Storyline
In the beginning of the game you are the main player known as Tidus. He comes from the world known as Zanarkand, the city that never sleeps. Tidus prepares himself for a major blitzball tourament against the Duggles. As he is competing for bliztball cup, a mysterious force attacts Zanarkand.
It is then where he meets Auron. Auron is a friend of Jecht, Tidus long hated father. Auron leads Tidus to saftey where he is then transported to a world known as Spira, a place where everything revolves around Sin, the creature which attacked Zanarkand.
Now Tidus has been stranded near a place known as the Al Bhed Ruins, there he meets Rikku, an Al Bhed and is given food and shelter. He then agrees to work for the Al Bhed in order to help restore a sunken ship. After a hard day of work... Sin appears and strikes again.
Once again Tidus is stranded, yet he still remains in the world of Spira. He is now in at the coast of Besaid, a small village in the southern part of Spira. There he learns of "summoners", "guardians", and more about Sin. It is at Besaid where he learns of Yuna, a apprentice summoner who has entered the Chamber of the Fayth hoping to become a full fledged summoner.
He then ventures into the temple and learns of summoners and their pilgrimage. Summoners train and travel all around Spira to visit all the diffrent temples. There they can pray to the "Fayth" and can be bestowed the power of an aeon. When a summoner obtains all aeons they then travel to Zanarkand... a city that was destroyed by Sin a thousands of years ago. It is at the Zanarkand Ruins where a summoner can gain the "Final Aeon" and call it to destroy Sin.
Yuna has spent more time than needed for most summoners inside the Chamber of the Fayth. Tidus then becomes worried about this stranger and enters a sacred area that can only be entered by the faithful. He then sees Yuna for the first time, as a summoner of Yevon.
After being scolded several times for going into the Cloister of Trials he then watches Yuna summon an aeon. Aeons are spiritual beings that protect summoners. As night falls, he talks to Yuna. During that time and agrees to go with her on the S.S Liki and begin the pilgrimage.
As he travels, Yuna asks him to be full time guardian. He agrees and the quest for defeating Sin begins...
